Whoever is playing, as notes to wire wherever they should go. Every way of playing arrives here at once and as one thing — the keys on the screen, the computer keyboard, and every MIDI device attached, on every channel — so two hands on two devices are one performance and nothing has to be chosen between them. What a patch does with the notes is the wiring's business: connect this to an oscillator and the oscillator is played, connect it to several and they are all played together. Nothing about *how* a keyboard is played is here — the octave it is showing, the arpeggiator, the glide, the unison and the fixed velocity are the player's own settings, and stay that way, so a patch never arrives having decided how somebody else's hands work.
The OB-Xa brass stack of the keyboard riff everyone knows from 1984, rebuilt out of the library: four sawtooths spread sixteen cents either side of the note,…
A Juno-6 as its panel was left: pulse, sawtooth and the sub-oscillator together, the pulse width swept by the one shared LFO, a ladder filter tracking the…
The chorused keyboard of a hundred eighty-three records, from default modules only. One analog oscillator's pulse with a slow wave moving its width — that…
The big detuned-saw brass of the early-eighties polysynths, from default modules only. Two sawtooths thirteen cents apart and a third an octave up, through the…
A string sound from default modules only: slow to arrive, slow to leave. Three sawtooths a dozen cents apart and wandering against each other, as a section's…
A plucked sound from default modules only: an instant attack falling away to nothing. One analog sawtooth through the driven mixer and a ladder filter that its…
A lead built from default modules only: two sawtooths a few cents apart, wandering against each other as analog oscillators do, through the driven mixer and a…
A pad built from default modules only: slow in, slow out, warm and closed down. Two sawtooths pulled apart through the driven mixer and a Prophet-style filter…
A bass built from default modules only, as a Moog makes one: an analog oscillator's square with its own sub an octave below, both starting every note in step,…
