Two sounds multiplied together, sample by sample. What comes out is neither of them: a ring modulator makes the sum and the difference of every pair of partials it is given and keeps nothing of the two it started with, which is why the result is a bell, a clang or a voice out of tune with itself rather than a louder version of what went in. Patch a sound into In and another into Ring — an oscillator well up in the audible range is the usual one — and Ring amount sets how big the arriving signal is before it multiplies. Dry/ring is the blend, and the two ends of it are different effects: at nothing what came in, at everything the product alone with both original pitches gone, and anywhere between the two at once, which is the sound being made loud and quiet rather than replaced. Nothing patched into Ring is silence at the far end of that blend: there is nothing there to multiply by. The tremolo carries its own slow wave and does this at a rate you can count; this is the same arithmetic with the wave brought up into the audible range, where it stops being a wobble and becomes a new set of pitches.
